Hi, after installed the drivers and plugged the PSeye, now I have always the icon Safely Remove Hardware in my tray. Is possible to remove it? I heard that it has to be hard-coded in the drivers… is that right? The cam is not an usb drive so why does it appear? I’m using windows 7 but with XP is the same

thank you

This is native to the OS i believe… there may be a registry somewhere to hide though.

if you check the capabilities of the ps3eyecam under the device manager you will see it is 000000, instead another safe removable device like a mouse or another webcam you will have

CM_DEVCAP_REMOVABLE
CM_DEVCAP_SURPRISEREMOVALOK

Devices are shown there if they are marked as removable and if they do no have the ‘surprise removal ok’ flag. These are bit coded flags:

From cfgmgr32.h:
#define CM_DEVCAP_REMOVABLE (0x00000004)
#define CM_DEVCAP_SURPRISEREMOVALOK (0x00000080)

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff543095(v=VS.85).aspx

If Alex can just try this I’ll appreciate very much.

regards
Alberto

I’d like to know about a possible fix for this as well. Icon still persists in tray without a way of getting rid of it.
