Are you connected through a proxy or directly to the net? What is your connection?

I kept having the same problem. I got a new laptop and have been having weird internet problems with it. It didn’t seem that a proxy was being used, but I guess it was… in the LAN Settings it was checked to use a proxy. Unchecking that solved all my problems!
