Is there an inherent limitation within the PS3 Eye Toy hardware that limits the lowest FPS the camera can be set to?

The reason for asking is I’m interested in using this camera for astrophotography and having the ability to set long exposures would be a great benefit.

I notice that the lowest FPS for the SDK is 0.1fps but is there any way to get this even lower? For example to 1 frame a minute or even 1 frame every 10 minutes?

Looking at OV7720 datasheet, I see minimum pixel clock specified at 10MHz, which means that RGB output (the most data per frame) at 640*480*3 bytes will require 10.85fps, therefore the maximum exposure is less than 92ms.

Thanks for the info. But there must be something else going on with the software since the SDK allows FPS of 0.1 or exposures of 10s.
