Actually iìm using 3 PScameras, ned to extend it to 5, anyway, I builded my own plugin for vvvv, and it works fine, but, when i restart windows, i hae an error in usb port, devices cannot being recognized, if i unplug and plug again cameras, sometimes it works.
I tries also precompiled sample for multicamera, using the DLL that enables more then 2 ps devices, same result, when i restart i cant use ps cameras…how can i solve this ? does anybody had the same issue, using more then 2 cameras ?

I have the same issue with every of my 3 cams on every of my computers (different windows system - 7, xp, vista and embedded). The only way I found is to hibernate computer. If I will shutdown it or even put in suspend state - it doesn’t recognize cams after wake up and I have to replug it.

No idea if it’s a driver issue or hardware issue.

Hi, and thank you fro reply, the hibernate solution could be nice, but im realizing a permanent installation, if only we have a black out, nothing will work anymore, and hardware is hidden somewhere not really accessible.
I tried on different pc, and USB hubs, having the same issues, so look like it dependes from driver, loosing something when windows shutdown, are we the only 2 using more then 2 cameras ? smile

om, made some (a lot) tests, tested with only 2 cameras,  on windows 7, 32 and 64 bits, installed also cl studio and changed USB hubs, results :

- After a reboot I can just see “Unknown device” for the cameras, so i cant use it
- Using it on 32 bits system cameras never shut down and remain hanging during reboot, so it take a long time to restart windows
- Tested different samples, look like i cant just have devices installed after a reboot
- After all this, i’m, not even able to use 2 cameras

I buyed a 8 pack license, is there anybody working on similar structure ? any succes on using more then 2 cameras ?

Finally I found a solution, I observed that also when windows shutdown the blue led on cameras is still on, if I suspend power on pc after shut down, led will go, of course, off, and when restarting windows device are working.
So i made some changes in bios, to switch off everything connected to the pc when it is swithced off, will not work with reboot, but shut down windows and then restart everything is working…till now :D

hope it helps, any feedback is appreciated

I cant say ive had this problem myself.

My cameras are all connected to a powered hub. and the blue lights remain on as this LED is hard wired to the USB power. I think i will have to try to see what happens when I reboot or Shutdown. could you give me an idea of what steps you took so i could have a go and try on my side.

Run application (multi-cam sample code)
Close application.
Shut down PC
Start PC
Run application (multi-cam sample code)

^^are these the correct steps^^

1. Try to connect even one camera directly usb port of your computer
2. Test it with CL-Eye Test (or any other app that uses camera) - it should work
3. Restart your computer (not shutdown and start again but restart option)
4. Test it with CL-Eye Test (it should display “No camera found” image)
5. ?????

Hello,

I’m having the same problem here, one PC with 7 cameras and the other with 5.

I have been looking at the BIOS, but I can’t find anything like “Power everything of on shut down”. Which is the name of the option in your BIOS?

Thanks

Marc
