I have bought and installed both the single driver and the sdk one. Still getting a black screen when I use the test program.

With the SDK it works when I open one of the apps in the SDk bin folder but it will not work when I use the Test app that comes with the single version.

Is there a solution to this?

Could you please explain your os/hardware setup? If possible please try on another machine.
