Monochrome and frame rate.

Ok i got a question, maybe totally stupid one but still..
Why can’t we get a 640x480@120 fps? is that actual hardware limit of the chip, or just because the limit of usb data rate?
I mean couldn’t be possible to get a monochrome image (with correct driver) at higher fps rate? Because if that would be possible, for us using ps3 eye for tracking, would be a great improvement…. Eye would beat the trackir in performance!

Tsuki,

The main reason is the limitation of the PS3Eye CMOS and controller chip. Also 120fps @ VGA pushes the USB bus almost to the limit.
Have you tried tracking using QVGA? At that resolution you can definitely achieve over 120fps.
