Slow frame rate

Last year I set up Tbeta with the early PS3Eye driver, and things worked well.
I got frame rates of 120 fps with 320x240.
I was using an old Celeron with 512MB and Win XP.

Last month I did an upgrade, and now have an AMD64 with 2GB and Win7,
and installed CCV and the latest CL-Eye driver.
It all works, but I cannot get a frame rate better than about 30fps.

In the CL-Eye test app, when I launch it says “cannot set frame rate for preview”:
it does show video, but will not let me change the frame rate. I don’t know if
this is related to my CCV problem or not.

Any ideas? I really need a higher frame rate.

In the CL-Eye Test app go to “Capture”->“Set Frame Rate” and uncheck the “Use Frame Rate”. After this you’ll be able to change the camera frame rate. This however is not related to the issue you are seeing in CCV. What version of CCV are you running? Is it the one that comes with an installer?

I have a similar problem with the Cl-Eye Test app. I can only switch between 15 and 30 Hz and can’t get a higher sample rate.

To enable the advanced frame rate selection create the cleye.config text file with the following content:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<cleye>
    <
item name="mode" value="advanced" />
</
cleye

Once you do this, place the cleye.config file where your executable file is located.
You’ll be able to access the following frame rates:

- 640x480 fps: 15, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75
- 320x240 fps: 15, 30, 60, 75, 100, 125

Hi.
I am having the same problem here.
I can set the speed in the Test App, see all the speeds but it seems that the selected FPS is not saved anyhow.
When I start my openframeworks application I only get 30 FPS, no matter what FPS and resolution I set.

I tried to set the FPS in amcap but in amcap I only see 15 & 30 FPS @ 320/640 pixels.

Users in the OF Forum told me, that the old version of the driver used to work that way.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I’d like to confirm this issue.  Even with the new cleye.config, I can now see the higher framerates in the Eye Test app, but I can not get higher framerates in Visual Jockey.  Others using the older drivers are still able to get the higher frame rates.

I’ll report the same issue.  cleye.config shows all the frame rates in the test app but it doesn’t apply to a video analysis program I am using.  Have tried with set frame rate option with or without the use frame rate checkbox checked.  Any ideas to try would be great.
Thanks!

Just a newbie question about the advanced mode with 1 cam, do you create the text file from notepad? Once created and saved as cley.config where do you put it? I have tried this and no luck.

I can’t get more than 30fps outside of the cl-eye test app too, will test older drivers and report back…

Well, looks like i can’t download older drivers, because the installer use the internet to download the .dll’s and always download the last version…

There seems to be enough people having trouble to perhaps have you release an updated single cam driver with the advanced mode already set up. \is that possible Alex?

Bubba22, i’ve found a solution: put the cleye.config in the same folder of the app you want to use, e.g: AmCap - put the cleye.config in the same folder as the AmCap executable, it will show all FPS selections that the camera is capable.

What if you just want to see the increased frame rate in the cleye tesy program?

Hi,

i’m using FaceTrackNoIR with the PS3 Eye Cam.
I’ve installed the driver and placed the cleye.config in the same folder where my executable file is.
The demo programm shows me 125 fps, but in FaceTrackNoIR I only get 50 fps.
I know, it’s because I have only the non-commercial version of FaceTrackNoIR.
But does anybody know, if I can change something in the cleye.config or something else,
so that I can get 120 fps in FaceTrackNoIR anyway?

Thanks
