Using PS eye camera for image processing

Hello,

I have been looking for an inexpensive high frame rate camera for while and recently i saw that the PS eye camera meets all my requirements. I need to get access to the individual image frames and run an image processing algorithm written in C code. Can you tell me packages I need to download and install to be able to do this.

A small hello.
Looking to play around with the kinect. Studdied AI 15 years back specialising a little in computer vision.
Four years developing techniques for people counting and tracking in places with low light, vibrations, and smoke.
That was years ago, aiming to get back into research.

but yeah i just saw kinect hacked video and got interested though i would do this for my engineering project. i studied at University of Hawaii at Manoa and well i am pretty new to the whole programming world.

I have been here for a while, But it might be a good idea to introduce myself.

I am Sean, and I work in High-End computer technology as well as Entertainment industry in Technology.

At this point in time I write software, and consult on systems integration, and work with Video Technologies.

I have been using CL technology before CL existed and it was just AlexP writing the Windows XP driver for the PS3 Eye Camera.

In other technologies, I work in 3D Stereoscopics, Data Aquisition, and telemetry.

I also fly Gliders (Sailplanes) as a hobby.

Hello,
I’m Stefan from Germany and a little bit ashamed that i didn’t really recognized this Forum and the whole Cl-eye Platform until now.
As some guys from the NUI Forum will know that i worked on some multi cam setup for CCV, so it’s not excusable .
I’m very curious about the capabilies of the CL-Eye Platform Pack, especially with CCV/OpenFrameworks.
So in the next step i will buy some of this tiny little PS3 Basterds to make some tests.
I hope that this system will have a comparable performance to Firewire, so the cost of a huge multi cam setup could drop dramatically.

Hi,

I’m Joel. I’m 29 and I’m a sophomore undergrad of Computer Science at University of Central Arkansas. Got a PS3 and an Eye for Christmas. I want to learn to program for the PS3 and the Eye. I’m fascinated by the “Head tracking” and Augmented Reality technologies, and all the other interesting camera tracking technologies.

I know C++ pretty well, and I’m trying to wrap my head around C. Assembly language was a real PITA, but I came out of it with a B! B’s in Calculus I and II. GAP above 3.5. Let’s see, can I brag about anything else? Guess not.

Yeah, I was trying to be a rock star for the past 10 years. I finally gave it up and I’m going back to school, and I love it! Goodbye manual labor.
