Is there a way to get the Playstation Eye working with Windows 8? I reinstalled the drivers and it doesn’t work. Thanks.

After enabling the unsigned driver support I was able to install the drivers and the camera shows up in device manager. It works with the cl test, BUT it does not appear on any other application that can use the camera.

Hi,
Since I’m using Windows 8, I cannot use the Playstation Eye too. After reinstall the driver, I can only the camera with CL-Test, but I don’t care of the camera since I’m using Mumble (a kind of Skype).

Thank you.

(edit: oh, I retry just now and it works :x).

Hi jibay cay,

Can you confirm that the latest driver for PS3Eye work with Mumble on Windows 8?
Are you running x86 or x64 flavor of Windows 8?

Thanks

I don’t know about Mumble, but the latest version of the driver is not working with the latest version of Skype for me on Windows 8 64-bit. Windows 8’s built-in Camera app doesn’t detect it either. Only CL-Eye test works.

jibay cay says in their post that they don’t care about the camera, just the mic, so they may have just meant that the mic was working. The mic works for me as well.

I can confirm the issues of John Pray.
I’ve got a really fresh system, just 2 weeks old, not many programs.

The latest updated & advise with Pepper Flash worked.

But:

Win8 camera doesn’t detect it, Skype 6.0 final (6.0.60.120) doesn’t detect it,
latest Skype Win8 doesn’t detect it.

CLEyeTest works fine

Win 8 Pro x64
Chrome 25.0.1323.1 dev-m & Flash 11,5,502,110 are working.
Just Skype & Win8 compatibility is missing.

Just tried the new driver (V5.1.1.0317). Thanks for putting out a new version so fast.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t fixed any of my problems. Everything still behaves as described in my post above. (I made sure to totally uninstall the drivers and program and reinstall just in case.)

EDIT: Never mind; just realized the post announcing that version came out before our posts above. Disregard.

I am also having the same issue, But it was working very fine till yesterday and had no issues, it all started yesterday night, same desktop, same OS, but new problem, and when checked in Facebook Webchat, the camera and Mic both working fantastic;

1. Windows 8 camera not detecting.

2. desktop and Skype app both does not detect.

3. Yahoo messenger not detecting.

4. CL eye test working fine.

5. Facebook web chat with Video chat working fine (Recently FB had a tie up with skype for this web video chat feature)
